Field Trip Report

Attendees:  Groundhog Dave, Paul "Mr. Reveille" Radziewicz, Ron "Chisel Buster" Schulz, Alaine "Lainie" Mack, Jeff "the Bald Eagle" Wilson, Linda Lovstad, Gregg Steuben, Ryan "Klock Man" Klockner, Dan Blanco, Suzanne and Jarrath Shaw, Bryan Davis, David "the Mailman" Mailman with Izzy

We were treated to an exclusive field trip to visit the famed Area 52 Claim to dig for Herkimers.  Shane and Sherry Moore were our hosts and gave us a thorough overview of the property and the claim layout.  Ron Schulz arguably had the find of the day, with several sizable doublets and triplet crystals, clusters seemingly in the 2 inch to 4 inch range.  Paul Radziewicz had a few notable 1 1/2 inch or so, crystals, and Jeff Wilson found numerous slightly smaller crystals.  Everyone left with crystals having been found, of different sizes and compositions.  The general trend of the day was, the deeper you dug in, ther better your finds; however there definitely were some exceptions.  The lunch provided by Shane and Sherry was also outstanding and much appreciated, with delicious burgers and dogs and a variety of snacks and desserts.

We look forward to being granted a return visit date for the Fall.
