Bear Mountain and Fort Montgomery Trip Report

NoJMS field trip to the Bear Mountain Zoo, Geology Museum, and collecting trip to Mine Dock Park in Fort Montgomery, NY Spectacular weather and great scenery made for a fun trip!! Attendees: A great crew. “Hitchhiker ” Tim Hollister with his wife Corinne and son Mark “Sleeping beauty” H., Pete Vereb and Irene Potter, Paul “Mr Reveille” Radziewicz, Jim “Lunchbox” Currie, “Mr Montague” Jeff Wilson, and the “Groundhog”. Great variety of animals and birds were seen in the Zoo. Outstanding views of Hudson River, Anthony’s Nose and Bear Mountain. Visit to Geology and History Museums in Bear Mountain Park followed by a trip to nearby Mine Dock Park in Fort Montgomery. Waterfront location, surface / railroad ballast collecting.
