Prepared by Dave “Groundhog” Shapiro, President – We sit at 28 members, and Ken reported our Treasury is at $1285. – I recapped the success of the Rutgers OH Club table for Friends NJ, and mentioned conversations we had with several teachers and STEM students. One PROJECT we will be involved in is JOIDES which is an earth science – based, pop-up science exhibit program. We will make a presentation for the New Brunswick Public Library on Tues May 15th, which is our monthly meeting date. Topic will be field collecting for beginners, the field trips our Club has gone on and specimens found, as well as regional geology of NJ/NY/PA. DETAILS TO FOLLOW. – We discussed participation in the Edison Show – we will actively man the club table Sat and Sun Apr 7 – 8, but we’ll have info / handouts, etc. displayed at the table for the weekdays prior (4th-6th). We will put out advertising cards. Dave Wilt & Aaron are assisting us with a NEW BANNER and sign-up “posters” to hang either side of Banner; and, we will have a “notepad” – style info sheet for interested people to put their contact infos on. Also we will have a few actual membership forms there. DETAILS TO FOLLOW. – Friends own KC Dalby will be hosting “Fellowship of the Rock” at his residence on the 1st Saturday in August (4th). Pool party, great food, camaraderie and some mineral sales will round out the event. Will Pazik will graciously be drafting up advertising cards for the event in the near future. DETAILS TO FOLLOW. – FIELD TRIP SCHEDULE is now up on our website, some were given out at the meeting. As always, a great variety of trips to partake in. As always, CONTACT GROUNDHOG DAVE TO GET IN ON TRIPS OR GET INFO. – We discussed the NJ State Mineral Legislation that was proposed. KC said he will ask Friends National and possibly AFMS or EFMLS for support, and Kevin Cooper said he would mention the proposal to a legal connection he has with Phil Murphy, to see if that can have some impact. I will touch base with Jeff Osowski who originally sent me the Legislation to seek his input. DETAILS TO FOLLOW. – 7th Installment of Mineral Mayhem saw 9$ added to our Treasury. Winner was our own Dave Wilt, who won 2 handsome specimens. Paul “the Wandering Gourmet” Cyr with Tab, and Kevin “the Coop” Cooper also brought a variety of minerals for swap/sell and to show off. – Lastly, I plugged our MARCH MEETING SPEAKER – Steve Kuitems, presenting “A Franklin / Sterling Hill “Potpourri””. This is one NOT to miss!!! Tues March 20, 7pm.
