Approaches to Collecting Tsumeb

The talk will start with a brief summary of the history and mineralogy of the deposit, emphasizing the extensive variety of collectible minerals found there. Then a variety of different approaches to mineral collecting in general will be discussed, for example just one species, like Calcite, or a mineral group, like Carbonates, or rare species, type locality specimens, pseudomorphs, casts, thumbnails, micromounts, minerals with provenance, mining ephemera, personally collected specimens, etc. Most of the talk will be devoted to how each of these collecting approaches can be successfully applied to Tsumeb, with many photos of wonderful specimens as examples.
