A cross country trip to collect vertebrate fossils in Nebraska proved to be a memorable adventure.
The Nebraska Badlands are in the Oligocene era, 33.9 to 23 million years ago, and the fossils that can be found include primitive horses, rhinoceras, oreodonts, beaver, peccaries, deer, and tortoises. The goal was to find a skull, any skull, but jaw pieces would be wonderful, too.
The trip included other collecting stops, visiting friends and rock shops, and wrapping up the 50 State List. See how the adventure turned out!
We will also have Mineral Mayhem, and the latest updates on field trips, and upcoming shows.
